HAWAIIAN BODYWORK

Are you ready for change?

Hawaiian bodywork, also known as Temple Style lomi lomi or Kahuna bodywork is a form of bodywork that has its origins in the culture, healing arts and spiritual tradition of ancient Polynesia. It was created by one of the last great Hawaiian Kahuna; Abraham Kawai'i whose teachings focussed on the manifestation of the self, self-empowerment and bringing those who want it to a place of freedom, dignity and joy.

The core of Hawaiian bodywork philosophy is the belief that all knowledge is already present within the body and therefore has an innate self healing / self harmonising ability. Hawaiian bodywork can support a person who is going through stressful life situations, changes and challenges or traumatic experiences such as divorce, the loss of a loved one, experiencing a disaster or war. It can also helps you transform feelings of doubt, uncertainty and insecurity or feeling stuck when arriving at major crossroads in your life.

We are constantly in transition between what was and what will be. These transitions can happen suddenly, unexpectedly, be traumatising and cause confusion. There are times when support is needed in making these transitions move smoothly with minimal deleterious effects to ourselves.

Massage is one of the oldest and most powerful forms of healing.

Hawaiian bodywork activates the body through a psycho-spiritual transformation proces. By bypassing the busy mind and connecting with your inner wisdom on an energetic and cellular level, this work encourages your true self to step forward and stand tall.

Limiting patterns, behaviors, emotions, beliefs and past trauma not only live in your mind, but are also stored as memories in the cells of your body. These negative cellular memories can cause the flow of energy throughout your body to become stagnated, creating tension and disease on a physical and mental plane. They can inhibit your happiness and abundance in all areas of your life and may impact on your ability to achieve your goals, aspirations and true potential by suppressing your creativity and self esteem. These memories locked in your body may also hinder your ability to experience intimacy or to be more connected, open and available in your relationships.

The effect of this bodywork is accomplished not merely by way of the physical techniques applied to the body but also, among other things, by the ability of the practitioner to align with you, to be non-judgmental and to focus unconditional loving energy towards you.

The use of rhythmic massage movements brings your whole being into movement and invites you to surrender all mental and physical stress to the power of the dance that the practitioner performs in combination with Ha (conscious breathing), Mana (spiritual energy) and Pule (prayer). Space is created for letting go of beliefs and memories that sabotage you. You come into the present moment where the transformation process can begin.

The body, mind and emotions are a reflection of each other. Most tension in the body is intimately connected with mental and emotional habitual patterns. Acknowledging, activating and soothing the body with long warm loving strokes also affect the other non-physical parts in need of love, harmony, balance and peace.

I believe deeply that through Aloha and compassionate bodywork, the body is able to remember its wholeness and holiness and create its own powerful healing from all forms of trauma, abuse, self sabotage and imbalance. (1)

We all need healthy, sincere and loving touch because without it we move further and further away from our true nature. Loving touch has the capacity to reveal the innate wisdom found within the self and reminds you of who you are.

The body is like a history book of your life, within it, not only your story but also the stories of your ancestors embedded within the text of your DNA. Each long repetitive stroke of Hawaiian bodywork turns, as it were, a page, searching for that one paragraph, one sentence or one word that can shed light on whatever it is that is impeding you from being who you really are and stops you from living a more fulfilled life.

My practice offers a safe place to trust, let go, allow and receive.

My practice offers a safe place to trust, let go, allow and receive.

Hawaiian bodywork is a skin to skin, heart to heart, breath to breath, spirit to spirit exchange of information that doesn't have to be understood by the mind but is sensed and acknowledged by the soul.

Hawaiian bodywork is more than a massage, it is not only a physical treatment, it embraces all of who you are.

Hawaiian bodywork is for those who seek inner peace and trust when stepping forward into a new phase of life and for those who want to transform traumatic and abusive life experiences into healing acceptance.

Hawaiian bodywork has taught me how to honour the human temple and touch its wholeness with love, compassion and veneration. I embrace all my clients with non-judgemental acceptance, loving advocacy and the spirit of Aloha!

(1) Although this form of bodywork kan be very helpful for people with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) working through their trauma history with an experienced psychologist or psychotherapist is of vital importance.

Awaken inner spirit, come to the surface so I can see all that I am. Burn all those thoughts that have never served me, turn to ash that what I am not and melt the armour that prevent my expansion and expression. Let the trillion cells of my inner universe, once darkened by hurtful memories reflect again the trillion bright stars of my outer universe. Let me rise with the smoke and flames above the frustrations of self doubt, pain and fear. Let me flow with the lava through the barriers holding me back. Let me fly on the breath of the universal wind to the place I know is me.

Simon Dixon.

Duo Massage

Duo Massage

Sometimes it’s not what you do but who you do it with that is important!

Is there someone you want to bond more closely with, spend an hour or two together, away from the everyday stresses that get you irritated at each other or too busy to show the affection you really feel for each other?

Maybe you just want some 'We time'  together, to be pampered and not have to think about yesterday or tomorrow but just be in the present moment.

In my practice it is possible to be treated together with your partner, a friend, your parent or any other loved one at the same time, in the same room with two massage therapists. My colleague and I would be delighted to give you both a deeply relaxing massage.

A duo massage is a shared moment of relaxation which encourages your ability to bond with each other and increases your feelings of affection towards each other by releasing hormones in your body that makes these feelings of affection come to the surface.

Our duo massage is also excellent as a gift idea. For example, for that couple who already have everything. Maybe for that person who did so much for you when you were ill or needed help, or a couple you know who are having a hard time and could really do with a time out, a few of hours to themselves, together in a healing environment.

Partners, friends and family who have something to celebrate may also come to us to make a special occasion feel even more special by receiving our warm attention and soothing treatment in a pleasant atmosphere.

Together with my massage colleague Judith Kroon we invite you to spend some special time together at my practice for transformational bodywork.

Getting to the root cause of pain.

KEY POINT THERAPY

Key Point Therapy is a pain-reducing therapy form that uses traditional Chinese techniques that directly address the pain. It can be used to support the healing process of back pain, neck pain, pain in the face, acute tinnitus, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder, muscle cramps, sacrum pain, headaches and migraines, dizziness and pain in the feet and hands, etc.

Key Point Therapy is the manipulation of specific points located in certain areas of the body that are the cause of pain, discomfort or sickness elsewhere in the body.

Key Points are neither trigger points nor acupuncture points that are located along the meridians. Key Points are what are known in Chinese medicine as Ah shi ("oh, yes") points which are quite sensitive when pressed.

Ah shi points form a dynamic system of points that when manipulated using specific techniques, increases the flow of vital energy (Qi) through painful or dysfunctional areas of the body . These are areas suffering from stagnant energy or energy insufficiency.

There are many Ashi points over the whole body which usually do not have a specific location. Key Point Therapy, as developed by TCM doctor and acupuncturist Dr. Ya Qian is a system using only those Ah shi points that do have a specific anatomical location. By appying specific techniques, these points are stimulated which can have a very favorable effect on the body.

In most cases, the cause of the discomfort or pain is not located at the place where the client says he or she has pain or discomfort but is located elsewhere along a given pathway that the Key Point (cause) and the client's complaint (symptom) connects.

Key Point therapy can be used alone or in combination with other therapies, such as acupuncture, moxibusion and / or massage. During a treatment I use moxibustion and massage.
Chronic pain and discomfort that may be permanent or flare up such as back pain, shoulder pain and migraine are the kinds of complaints that Key Point Therapy can support most successfully.

MOXIBUSTION

Moxibustion or moxa is a very ancient form of heat therapy that originated in the colder regions of China. Moxa uses the crushed leaves of the medicinal plant mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris). The leaves are dried for many years and then crushed and rolled into bars or is made into small cones and burned on a thin slice of ginger that has been placed on the skin.

During a Moxa treatment the smoldering moxa stick is held a few centimeters above the ah shi points. The therapist will always check the heat level and in collaboration with the client administer an appropriate level of heat that is comfortable and safe.

Burning Moxa has a distinct odor that many people find very relaxing. The essential oils in mugwort has a significant effect and acts as a form of aromatherapy or medicinal incense.

Moxa has generally more or less the same efficacy as acupuncture, it increases the production of white blood cells. The number of white blood cells begin to increase immediately after direct Moxibustion treatment. Moxa also increases the production of red blood cells and hemoglobin.

The purpose of moxibustion, as with all forms of traditional Chinese medicine, it is to promote the natural flow of qi and maintain general health.

RAINDROP TECHNIQUE

Come and experience a deeply relaxing and soothing experience of body, mind and spirit whilst taking in the fragrances of pure and natural essential oils.

Diagram showing the dropping of essential oil from a distance of about 15c.m onto the skin so that it passes through the human body-field affecting the magnetic frequency of the body. The dropping of the oil in this manner is where the name Raindrop originates.

The Raindrop Technique uses seven individual and two composite essential oils of the highest quality.
Through specific application of these oils on neck, back and feet, the oils are rapidly absorbed into the body, supporting relief of discomfort caused by structural and electrical imbalances and tension in the body and in particular the spine.

Because these oils are 100% pure an unadulteratedthey are quickly absorbed into the bloodstream and brain. Waste products may be released from the body, the balance restored in your energy fields and clarity and peace is brought to the mind.

Many therapists, physicians and other medical professionals around the world have discovered the calming, energizing and balancing effect of essential oils and when used in combination with the Vita Flex and massage techniques, their effectiveness is even more profound.

Raindrop Technique was originally developed in the eighties for the treatment of back problems but since then it has shown its value in a range of physical, mental and emotional challenges.

Raindrop Therapy is a particularly effective way of applying essential oils to the body. Inspired by a once common Lakota Indian healing method and by making use of a 5000 year old form of Tibetan reflexology (Vita Flex) Naturopathic Practitioner Gary Young developed in conjunction with the use of pure essential oils, the Raindrop Technique.

About me

About me

Simon Dixon (London 1965)

In the past 20 years I've studied various forms of massage and alternative therapies. From a very young age, (seven years old) I was already interested in the human body; how the bones and muscles were put together and how the body functions. From my teenage years, I wanted to learn how I could touch people in a way that they could be relieved of their pain.

During my highschool years I started my career as an amateur boxer and in 1980 I won the school's amateur boxing association championship of England.  At the age of 18 I traded my boxing gloves in for the latex gloves of the operating room during my training as an operating department practitioner in St. Thomas's hospital in London. There I found fertile ground to further develop my interest in the human body and to be part of a medical team focussed on restoring function and health of the body.  After working in London for five years I moved to The Netherlands where I continue to the present time my work in the operating theater.

Besides my work in the hospital, I have had over many years, training in various forms of massage and alternative therapies. After my first massage diploma in 1993 (sports massage) I studied Trigger Point massage, Deep Tissue massage (Brandon Raynor technique), Body Sculpturing massage, Hawaiian bodywork  (Kahuna bodywork, Temple style lomi lomi), Raindrop Technique, Aunty Maille lomi lomi and Key Point Therapy.
These forms of massage have deepened my understanding of the physical, emotional and spiritual body, but none of them has so moved me and contributed to my spiritual evolution as the Hawaiian bodywork.

Another method I practice with pleasure and passion is the Raindrop Therapy whose effectiveness ceases to amaze me. The most recent addition to my therapy arsenal is the Key Point therapy, it has given me a deeper understanding of how the body develops pain and how to purposefully solve the root cause of that pain.
These three therapies affects us at the cellular and energetic levels so that we can physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually regain balance and alignment, enabling us to transform our bodies, our mind's and our lives!.

In 2016 I started an exciting new journey as a student of acupuncture and look forward to implementing what I learn in the coming months and years!

Hello simon,

I suddenly realised how extraordinary it is that I could come for a session at such short notice and how much integrity you have. Thank you for the very beautiful loving massage.

My husband and I are very busy with our individual spiritual journeys, both in our own way. I admire how you describe the work you do and make others experience it. I find it very special how you do this. You don’t often come across people from your own village who are so inspiring as you are. I believe that meetings are not a coincidence.

Thank you,

Nadja.

Dear Simon,

Aloha, thank you for the wonderfull massage yesterday. Loving it! My body lets go and relaxes in a unique way so i can remember my true inner being; pure, kind and strong.

Thank you for who you are,

With faith,
Chantal.

Dear Simon,
Your loving massage did me more than good, it was God!
Anette.

Simon,
I want to thank you again for the special massage I have experienced with you. I still feel very relaxed, nice and loose along and between my shoulder blades (which were more sensitive than I thought) and all over my body. Also my lower back feels good. I could feel the compassion and love that you put in all your movements, I felt good and I could tell you gave the massage with pleasure and that you where in a certain state of mind when giving it. I felt safe and familiar with you and being in your space. The rituals and chanting which accompanied the massage felt fine and it didn't matter that I didn't understand the Hawaiiaan words you were chanting. The intention with which it was expressed was enough. The Hawaiian music followed by English music I found very pleasant and the alternation Hawaiian and English was actually very nice, very beautiful songs. I also want to compliment you (not least) on the discretion you took before, during and after the massage. Very Fine.
Simon, thank you for this special experience.

Warm greetings from the heart,
Lilian.
